Portrait of Daniel Creamer

About

Hi, I’m Daniel Creamer.

I’m a mathematician and educator, and at heart a problem solver. Put me in a meeting where people are stuck, and I’ll listen, sort out what’s really going on, and help you decide what to do next, whether that’s a new tool, a better process, or simply a clearer plan. DCDS is my personal consulting practice, and I’m the person you’ll talk to, plan with, and work alongside.

Why I started DCDS

Since I came to Kansas to teach at Tabor College, I’ve met some of the hardest-working people in the country. Every year the job asks a little more of us than the year before, and there’s rarely time to stop and ask, “How could I do this better?” That’s what I want to bring to my friends and neighbors.

How I work

  • Problem solvers, not calculators. I tell my students I want them to be problem solvers, not calculators, and I bring the same approach to consulting. I’d rather help you understand your problem than hand you a black box. Whether I build the solution or teach you to build it, you’ll know how it works.
  • Within your constraints. Your budget, your tools, your staff’s time. Good solutions start from what you actually have.
  • Directly. You won’t be handed off to someone else.
  • Honestly. I’ll be clear about what a solution can and can’t do, and I’ll tell you if something isn’t worth building.
  • In plain language. Years of teaching have taught me to explain technical ideas clearly. You don’t need any technical background to work with me.
  • Built to last. I document what I build so it doesn’t depend on me forever.

Background

My background is in mathematics, computer science, and data analytics. I chair the mathematics and computer science department at Tabor College, where my work includes program development and academic leadership alongside teaching.

I also build software, data tools, and AI-assisted workflows that take tedious work off people’s plates. You can see some of them on the Projects page.

Let’s talk about what you’re working on

A short conversation is usually enough to tell whether I can help.
